Mahanati: A Movie Review

The movie is a Biopic of the legendary South Indian Actress Savitri. The movie begins with the narration of a journalist [ Samantha]. The film covers all stages of Savitri’s life-from her childhood, where she loses her father and stays at her uncle’s house with her mom. Thereafter she begins her acting career. She shots to fame at a young age, later she also falls in love with one of the popular Tamil actor Gemini Ganesh [ Dulquer Salman] and she even gets married to him against her producer Chakrapani’s [ Prakash Raj] advice. Later her marriage and motherhood led to the decline of her Telugu Super Star Popularity. Soon she begins to be troubled by her personal issues and becomes an alcohol addict. The movie ends with the scene of the great actress’s ‘ Mahanati’s death, which is a tragedy. 

                                                                                                                                                          It is not easy to bring a legendary Actress’s story to a life on a big screen, but the    director Nag Ashwin has managed to do it in Mahanati.  

This Biopic of the Legendary Actress Savitri has been one of the most eagerly awaited movies of the year 2018. But the wait was worthy for the audience cause the cast have done justice to it. 

                                                                                                                                                           The Director has successfully captured the essence of Gemini Ganesh and Savitri’s romance. He takes the audience with the emotional journey with the Actress. The only liberty that he has taken is to portray Gemini Ganesh in a positive light, while most of the articles deem him as a villain in Savitri’s life. 

 

 Keerthy Suresh as Savitri is the soul of the film. Her performance leaves   the audience stunned. This will be a memorable one of her’s .   

Dulquer Salmaan has done an excellent work as Gemini Ganesh, which gives more wait to the film. 

Samantha and Vijay Devarakonda as Journalists have acted well, especially during the climax of the film, which was a master stroke.  

The team has even recreated few extraordinary and evergreen scenes from some of the Savitri’s movie’s like Mayabazar. Devadas and etc.   

The Background score by Mickey. Mayer elevates the movie. 

It is a must watch movie for the upcoming aspiring Actors and Actresses to learn many things. 

The movie has also won many awards. Few of them are mentioned below 

National Film Award for the Best Actress was given to Actress Keerthy Suresh. 

National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Telugu. 

National Film Award for Best Costume Designer, also was awarded to the movie. 

It was a Box office hit.
